HISTORY

This house was built for Mrs Alice Ramsay. By 1941 she had married the ‘designer of the house’ Roy Grounds. The Ranelagh Estate at Mt Eliza is commonly credited with ‘being the birthplace of Melbourne’s modern movement’. Architect Roy Grounds Modernist Designer.

A calendar photograph of ‘Ranelagh’ which has a brick gabled roof with detailed pillared verandah to two sides, french glassed doors and large windows landscaped garden, built 1938
