HISTORYThe post office was a major public building in the town, the first post office was opened in 1861 and this building was erected 1863-64, coinciding with the provision of the electric telegraph services in the town. The image of the post office is just prior to closing as an operating post office, it remains as a community building and is the Mornington & District Historical Society ‘Old Post Office’ Museum
