HISTORY

The plaque inscription reads: “Alexander Beatson Balcombe, Pioneer, lived at “The Briars” from 1844 to 1877.
He gave this land to the people of Mornington. Originally named Victoria Park it was reserved temporarily in 1863 and permanently in 1874 for promenade and recreation.”
