HISTORY

The first Mornington Post Office was opened in 1861, and this building erected 1863-64, coinciding with the provision of electric telegraph services in the town, a telephone exchange was installed there in 1905
In the 1960’s the Post Office moved further up the Main Street, and the Mornington & District Historical Society retained the building which is now known as the Old Post Office Museum
