HISTORY

The commemorative plaque in front of the building notes the vicarage was built in 1869, with 4 bedrooms and a kitchen, as a gift from the Balcombe family of the ‘Briars’

DESCRIPTION

The house is stuccoed and has many gabled room bays, with the first section presumably being the L-shape plan around the entrance door. The house is an interesting and fairly typical example of a villa in the comparatively rare Picturesque Gothic Revival style.
In the image the house is partly obscured by trees and in the foreground and part of a paling fence can be seen.
