HISTORY

The first Mornington Post Office was opened in 1861, and this building erected in 1863-64, coinciding with the electric telegraph services in the town, a telegraph exchange was installed there in 1905; in the 1960’s the
Post Office moved further up the Main Street and the Mornington & District Historical Society retained the building which is now known as the Old Post Office Museum
