HISTORY

Francis Gillett purchased ‘Sunnyside’ in 1865, and had completed the new house there in 1867, reputedly
to his own design
A bequest made under the Wills of Elizabeth Hannan and Patrick Lawler (dated 13/04/1932), provided the basis for establishing a country training centre at ‘Sunnyside’ for delinquent boys to expose them to rural life, this being ‘Morning Star Boys’ Home’, the Catholic Church owned the property for 45 years
As at 2009 the property is known as the ‘Morning Star Estate’
