HISTORY In 1935 the Sisters of Charity sold 27 of their 35 acres to the adjoining owner John Ross (of Koorootane, Esplanade), by 1940 Ross also owned the buildings and had redeveloped them as the Dava Lodge, a hotel and guest house
By the 1940’s, Dava Lodge included a nine-hole golf course to the north, both the course and hotel being owned by Ross
The promotional advertising of the time states ‘it had every possible modern comfort including tennis courts,
the wireless, log fires, beautiful gardens and the 9 hole golf course’
By the 1950’s it had also acquired a ‘beer garden in natural surroundings’
