HISTORY

The ‘Edina’, is featured in this photo and is possibly the largest of the three ships and closest to the pier. The other 2 steamers are the Flinders and the third ship is unknown. These steamers were a few of the many excursion boats which regularly visited Mornington and travelled around the Bay. They regularly plied the waters of the bay from 1886 to after 1896.

DESCRIPTION

Depicts three steamers side by side alongside the Mornington Pier with numerous people in 19th century costume walking along the pier and road which is in the foreground. There are two wooden sheds in the image - one on the far right the other at the left of the photo.
