HISTORYThe Flinders mosaic was created by Phillip Wiseman to commemorate the Matthew Flinders Theatre earlier known as the Plaza Theatre. The project was funded by the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council. The mosaic was unveiled on the 6th June 2008. The people featured in the photo are from left to right are: Russell Ardley, Phillip Wiseman, Bev Colomb, Joan Patrick, Frank Green, Val Wilson, Derek Smith. Two men at far right are Council workers.
DESCRIPTION1189.1 is an image of the mosaic in the street which depicts Matthew Flinders in a sun burst and features theatre masks, plaza talkies and movie camera and reel of film in the mosaic.
1189.2 depicts 9 people standing around the Flinders mosaic and features the Grand Hotel can be seen in the background.
