HISTORYThis image depicts the Charles Wells Junction Garage in the 1920’s. This garage belonged to Charles Wells and was run with his sons Clyde and Ray. It was located on the corner of Nepean Highway and Tyabb Road. This garage may have been built by Charles as he was a professional builder by trade.
DESCRIPTIONThis is a photo of a garage painted in a dark colour with white signage painted on the walls and roof. The sign on the front of building states “Service Station for All Makes of Cars”, “Tyres and Tubes”, “Shell”, and telephone number. “Shell” is painted on the sloping roof and side of the building. A sign on the building’s side states “Mechanical Engineer, C. R. Wells Junction Motor Garage Petrol and Oils, All Repairs Guaranteed Satisfactory”. A round “Rugby” sign is in front, also two petrol pumps, and a man stands in each of the two front openings. A cottage and a car are on the left.
