HISTORYLightwood Vale house and property is located on Tyabb Road, halfway between Stump Gully and Coolart Roads. it commenced in 1902 as a grazing property by William Cranston Murray in 1902. In 1909 when he branched out and became a butcher. Lightwood Vale was described as being “In the exact middle of the Peninsula”. William had a slaughter yards on the property and later freezers and cool rooms. He also drove a bullock team, and he travelled with a cutting cart, selling his meat as far afield as Shoreham, Flinders and Hastings.
