There is a portico in the same material as the roof. There is a decoration on the front of the house in a “mock” Tudor style. The fence is made of sawn timber planks. There is one chimney visible. NewRecord.tif list.png 1 The house was originally the home of Mr Thorne. It was used as a school later. The first application for a school was made in 1870 by Robert Olley and George Hutchins. No agreement could be found for a suitable site, so permission was asked to open the Osborne Common School in a brick building belonging to the Wesleyans. This was just south of the intersection of Dunn’s and Benton’s Roads. In July 1872 the school opened with Charles Downward as head teacher. He would receive no aid from the Education Board until 6 months and he could show an enrolment of 20 pupils. arrow light.png arrow light.png 1 LayoutBadge_QuickFind_Grey_12x12.tif LayoutBadge_QuickFind_Grey_12x12.tif LayoutBadge_QuickFind_Grey_12x12.tif LayoutBadge_QuickFind_Grey_12x12.tif Thorne | Mornington Schools LayoutBadge_QuickFind_Grey_12x12.tif Mornington arrow light.png 1995 Maureen Tregonning 1999
