HISTORYThis shows a quarry in Moorooduc operating in 1920. On the back of the photo in old handwriting is the name “M. Whittingham/old Mooraduc (sic) Quarry”. The Moorooduc Quarry was commenced in 1887 by David Monroe and was mined for granite which was primarily used in road building and train track building.
This photograph shows an industrial site. There are tracks in the foreground (maybe for a trolley) going into a timber and iron building. There is a large timber construction on the right of the photograph containing machinery and a tall chimney to the left.
