HISTORY

The Royal Hotel was originally called the Rennison’s Schnapper Point Hotel and was built in the late 1850’s. The name was changed to the Royal in 1876. By 1863 the hotel offered 22 rooms for accommodation, increasing to 65 rooms by the 1870’s, with a garden and stables on three and a half acres. The stables were demolished in 1970, they were originally a depot for Cobb and Co.
