HISTORY

The Progress Association, which in the early 1900’s was an active body with the constructive ideas for the beautification of the town, arranged in for seven thousand ti tree plants to be put in on the foreshore between Mills Beach and Marina Cove. The young plants to be protected by a red gum fence. In “A Guide to Scenic Mornington” (1914) noted the many bathing boxes on Mills Beach, in comparison with other beaches.

DESCRIPTION

This is a view taken from the beach looking out across Port Philip Bay. There are rocks in the foreground with waves breaking over them. To the right a headland can be seen.
