HISTORYThis photograph, taken in 1993, is of the site known as Foxey’s Hangout which originated in the 1930s as a place for suspending dead foxes for tallying the daily catches of two trappers (Jack Johnson and Lou Connell) who were competing for the highest tally each day. Johnson died in 1946 and the practice of hanging the fox kills on the tree petered out but the site is still a local landmarkof historical significance.
DESCRIPTIONLarge dead tree at a road junction The tree is on a triangular island bounded by two sealed roads (Balnarring and TubbaRubba Roads) and a gravel slip lane. There is a simple wooden sign to the left of the dead tree.
