HISTORYThe woman is Josephine Kerr, born in Emerald Hill to Charles and Elizabeth Kerr. She married Alfred Downward on 19 March 1879 at Hawthorn. She later lived at Redwood in Wilsons Road Mornington and some times at Glengala, Alfred’s farming property near Tubbarubba. The couple had seven children. For the first four births, Josephine’s confinements were in Melbourne and the last three were born at Snapper Point.
