HISTORYRichard George Edwards was the father-in-law of Herbert Downward who married Eileen Edwards in 1916. Richard was the policeman at Dromana and before that had served in Gippsland and in Ballarat. He bought the house “Darriman” in Queen Street Mornington in the names of his wife and his daughter,Eileen. On the death of Mrs Edwards it became Eileen’s house and she and Herbert used it as their ‘town home’. Their ‘weekend home’ was ‘Maxwelton’ at Balnarring.
