HISTORY

The house is ‘Darriman’ as it was in the 1970 - 80s which has been altered from the original Herbert Downward home (see 1207.1). The verandah has been removed and the walls possibly rendered and certainly repainted. The driveway is probably in its original place and the garden block beside is now a gravelled car park. The house was given by Eileen Downward to her son Harry on his marriage in 1947. Some time later the house belonged to the Country Women’s Association but more recently was occupied by the Mornington Peninsula Shire as ‘Kit McCulloch House.

DESCRIPTION

A double fronted, single storied house with pitched roof coloured green and cream coloured rendered walls. There is a mini verandah to the right of the front door. The house is set back from a low, stone fence at the front of the property. A sign in the front is indistinct in the photograph. A fairly newly surfaced road in front of the house curves to the left around it.
