HISTORY

George S. Frean owned a timber yard and building business in Barkly Street Mornington from the 1920s. It was a thriving, landmark business for several decades until the early 2000s.

DESCRIPTION

A collection of timber buildings with an entrance off a main road. The driveway has a gravel surface and the facade of the main building is signed FREAN & RIDE with Cabot’s WOOD STAINS below that. A vertical sign on the left is marked HARDWARE and a further sign on a tall pole says Frean and Ride Hardware and Timber. A sign on a wire fence reads ‘Drive in Timber”A sandwich board announces ‘OPEN 7 Days’. A yellow utility truck stands in the yard.
