HISTORYThis relatively recent building was erected to house the Masonic Centre. The rear high gabled section at the rear was the Wesley (Methodist) Church situated in Barkly Street. A shed belonging to that original church housed (1917) the first hand drawn Fire Cart of the Mornington Fire Brigade.
DESCRIPTIONA substantial cream brick rectangular building has a low gabled roof and a small entrance building on the left hand side. There are four small windows high on the side wall and three dark vertical windows occupy the left half of the front facade. The Freemason’s emblem is attached centrally in the upper part of the right half. A wide paved access path leads up to the doorway from the road in front. Two white posts near the public footpath limit vehicle access and there is a white hand rail beside the path to the main entrance. Attached to the rear of the main hall is a small high gabled building and the lower roof of another. A simple brown wooden sign in front identifies the ‘Mornington Masonic Centre’.
