HISTORYThe Fire Station on the corner of Main Street and Elizabeth Street was first occupied in 1969. By the year 2000 the Mornington Fire Brigade had outgrown its site in Main Street Mornington. Membership was greatly increased and car parking for its members called out to fight fires was insufficient. Land on the corner of the Nepean Highway and Separation Street, part of the old High School site, was purchased in 2002 and it was anticipated to be built and operational by 2007. This is one of the last photographs of the Main Street Station.
DESCRIPTIONThe Mornington Fire Station is a smart rectangular building of one storey. It has three bays with glazed doors and a fire truck can be seen in each of the three bays. The CFA logo sits at the centre of the fascia. A concrete apron lies to the front and there is a metallic tower at the rear for the siren. The blank side wall of a two storey building is on the right.
