HISTORY

The defunct railway land including the Railway Gate House land was sold to accommodate a major shopping mall for Mornington. The complex was the subject of an application for a Council Planning Permit which was the object of submissions by the local community to keep the Centre to a size and use consistent with the size of the regional town of Mornington.

DESCRIPTION

A busy junction of Barkly Street with roadways into and out of the Centro Mornington Shopping Centre. It is just to the west of the site where the Railway Gate House once stood. The entrance is through car parks and there is a large sign identifying the shopping centre and advertising the major supermarket occupants.Beyond car park to the east are houses among the trees on Beleura hill.
