HISTORY

The house ‘Tarfayah’ in Albert Street was originally the home of Dr James Louis Edgeworth Somers who was in medical practice in Mornington from 1893 to 1938. He was an esteemed member of the Mornington and wider Peninsula communities. He lost a son in the First World War.

DESCRIPTION

A dark brick house of a single story has a tiled double pitched roof and a simple verandah supported by simple white painted posts. The A tall corner window appears to be decorated with tuck pointing in cream brick. There is a small weather board room added at the right hand end of the verandah. The house sits on a simple, raised grassed area with several shrubs and a small eucalypt which is close to the street. The property is partially fenced on the right.
