HISTORY

Balcombe Army Camp at Mt. Martha was used as an army training school and also as a rest and recuperation (R & R)base in World War 2. Members of the American armed forces were stationed there at times.

DESCRIPTION

Temporary stage comprising a large flat tray (of a truck) on wheels, with a canvas awning erected as back wall and roof. Pot plants are on the stage and on the ground in front of the stage, and a microphone and lectern are set up centre stage. A group of well dressed people mostly wearing hats are standing to the right with backs to the photo. White plastic chairs and a large American and an Australian flag are on the stage, presumably at Balcombe Army Camp for 2001 ceremony.
