HISTORY

The Foreshore Reserves Committee stems from August 1914 when the Progress Association approached the Shire Council with a request that a Foreshore Trust be formed to get better control and management than had been the case in the past. The deputation led by Frederick Linley, President of the Progress Association, and Robert Nunn said there was no intention to take control from the Council but to work in harmony with them in the task of maintaining the foreshore.
President Linley was worried about the growth of trees on the foreshore, nude bathing, and numerous bathing boxes that had been vandalised on Fisherman’s Beach.

DESCRIPTION

This is a view of the beach from the opposite headland. It shows several people on the beach in the distance, and there are many bathing boxes. The sea is very calm. There are lots of houses on the crest of the embankment.
