HISTORY

Sam Garlick was a Peninsula boy. His family were fishermen. In the 1860’s Hastings was the centre of the fishing industry and at that village in 1869 were 25 fisherman’s huts. Families such as the Hutchins and Garlicks were resident in Schnapper Point.

DESCRIPTION

This image shows an elderly man sitting on the side of a row boat which in on the beach. He is wearing a white long sleeve shirt and long trousers and boots. Between his feet is a black dog. Behind him are two sheds, larger than bathing boxes. On the side of the shed on the right is a sign “Hot water”. There is also another row boat behind him.
