HISTORY

28-30 Main Street was once Mornington Coffee Palace. Built in the late 1800’s it was owned by Mr & Mrs Robertson and run as a cafe and small boarding house. At one stage it was called Clifton House. By the start of the First World War it had been converted into the town’s newsagency.

DESCRIPTION

This shows an image of a row of shops. In the foreground is Newsagents. It states “Argus -all daily papers”. The road is in the foreground. The newsagent is a two storey brick building, which is white coloured. The telegraph poles are shown up the street.
