HISTORYThis postcard was sent by someone called Lyn, to Ron Marshman in Wollongong, N.S.W. Mornington has been a holiday destination for many years.
DESCRIPTIONThis is a postcard of Mornington featuring a Scottie dog in the centre. It is a drawing of the beach with a bucket in the right bottom corner, and a spade in the left hand bottom corner. The centre opens up to show different views of Mornington. It has the words “I won’t want to leave here” at the bottom of the card, and “Greetings from Mornington” on the top.
1. Fisherman’s beach with the bathing boxes on the left and the sea on the right.
2. Shire Hall beach with the sea on the left, and the beach on the right with the boat sheds.
3. This is a view of a road, and is headed “at Fisherman’s beach”
4. This is a view of the Pier from the headland above. There are several small boats around the Pier.
5. This is a sweeping view of Fisherman’s beach, the sea is on the left of the photo. The beach is quite crowded with people. There are many bathing boxes visible.
6. This is titled Children’s beach, with the beach on the left, and there are several bathers in the water on the right.
7. This is a photo of Fisherman’s Jetty. There are half a dozen cars parked in the foreground. The sea is in the centre of the photo, and land can be seen in the back ground.
8. This photo is titled “The Beach Road”, and Kirkpatrick’s Hotel is on the left of the photo. There are some large trees in the foreground.
9. This it titled “view from Beleura Hill” and shows the view across the water to the beaches of Mornington.
