HISTORY

Somers, c.1930. Merricks Creek with a boat shed on the sand spit.
Inscription on back of photograph: ‘General, Sir Stanley Savige’s boat shed. A bridge opposite Palm Beach Grove about 1930.
This bridge was washed away in November 1934 and replaced by a suspension bridge by army engineers in 1935 at Easter time.
