Balnarring 1870s. Septimus Planck (1839-1920).Septimus Miller Planck (1839-1920) was the first head teacher of Balnarring’s first shool. Born 1861 in Hampton, London, he migrated to Australia in 1863/4 under the Land Grants scheme. He first settled in Queensland, then moved to Victoria. He arrived in Balnarring district in 1871. As well as teaching in Balnarring he became head teacher of Shoreham school. Septimus was a good cricketer ...

Balnarring 1870s. Annie Planck.Annie Planck Nee Linard, born 1839, came with husband Septimus Planck (Balnarring school’s first teacher) to Austalia in 1963/64. Her Husband, Septimus, came to teach at the first “day school” to be opened in Balnarring in 1871. After Septimus transferred to Shoreham she taught sewing to school children there.
