HISTORY

Painting was found hidden behind the Hastings Yacht Club Commodore's flag at the Hastings Historical Society when the flag was reframed in 2007.

DESCRIPTION

Framed watercolour painting by R. Whiten painted in 1909, almost certainly depicts the Victorian Colonial Navy's 1st class torpedo boat, Countess of Hopetoun, painted at sea. The frame is handmade from recycled timber, and the water-colour is protected by a plastic sheet.
